Costa Rica High & Low Lands

​

Experience the cool highlands of the Talamanca Mountains, the emerald valley of San Gerardo de Dota which is one of Costa Rica’s best-kept secrets. Daytime temperatures are around 70°F. and an altitude of 11.000 ft. above sea level. It is a birdwatching paradise, boasting over 200 avian species, including the elusive resplendent quetzal and a dazzling array of hummingbirds. Enjoy the views of this cloud forest.

 Explore the tropical lowland forest of Manuel Antonio, this national park contains a charming combination of rain forest, beaches and coral reefs. The beaches are the most beautiful in the country, lined with lush forest, home for sloths, iguanas, colorful little crabs and four types of monkey; spider, howler, white faced and the endangered squirrel monkey.

 

Activities: Hiking - birdwatching, - wildlife observation - horseback riding - white water rafting, - sun and beach.

Daily Itinerary ( 7 days- 6 nights)

Day 1 Arrival day. Welcome to Costa Rica!

Meet & greet at the international airport and ground transfer to Hotel near the San Jose Area.

 

Day 02  Transfer to San Gerardo de Dota Area (B- L- D) After breakfast.  Heading on to Cerro de la Muerte one of Costa Rica’s highest peaks. The drive takes approximately 2 hours from San José heading southeast in the Pan-American highway. As one drives up, marvelous views appear before your eyes, carrot & potato plantations and the countryside. Overnight in a peaceful hotel of San Gerardo de Dota area at an altitude of 7000 ft above sea level surrounded by the unspoiled ecology of the area.

 

Day 03 San Gerardo de Dota  (B- L- D) After a delicious breakfast, you will go for a horseback riding tour to enjoy the natural wonders of San Gerardo de Dota. Afternoon at your leisure. Overnight at the mountain lodge.

 

Day 04 Transfer to Manuel Antonio Area (B) After we check out of the hotel and have breakfast, the tour will continue to the lowlands of the central Pacific coast of Manuel Antonio National Park. Manuel Antonio National Park is the most popular National Park in Costa Rica. The beaches are ideal for swimming and excellent for snorkeling. There are many walking and hiking trails within Manuel Antonio National Park that lead to secluded beaches and spectacular views, such as those at Punta Catedral. Besides the spectacular beaches, Manuel Antonio offers a dense vibrant forest and a huge variety of wildlife. Afternoon on your own at the beach. As an optional activity, you can visit and hike through the trails of the Manuel Antonio National Park. Overnight at the hotel in the area.

 

Day 05 Manuel Antonio.(B-L) Get ready for the adventure of the day at Rio Savegre for a Rafting trip Class II & III. Fun rapids are perfect for families with children as young as 8. Beginning in a thickly forested mountain valley, rafting trips on the Savegre River pass through a lush riparian environment. Tumbling waterfalls add to the river’s pristine and clean water and rushing rapids like “Boca Diablo” and “Screaming Child” provide excitement along the way. Lunch on the tour and then back to the hotel.  Afternoon on your own. You can visit the town of Manuel Antonio, shop for souvenirs, dine in a local restaurant. Overnight at the hotel near the area.

 

Day 06 Transfer to Alajuela (B) Overnight in a hotel near the airport for your departure next day.

 

Day 07 Transfer to the airport for your flight back to your country (B) Back soon! Pura Vida!
