Visit one of the most remote areas in Costa Rica, the Tortuguero National Park, the most important nesting site of the green sea turtle on Costa Rica's Atlantic side. With an infinite maze of serpentine channels and streams, Tortuguero shelters fabulous wildlife, including including toucans, 3 species of monkeys, sloths, jaguars, tapirs, ocelots, cougars, river otters, and manatees. Note: Green Turtle nesting Turtle tour can be arranged upon request on this package in season (July-September)

Daily Itinerary ( 9 days - 8 nights)
Day 01 Arrival day. Welcome to Costa Rica!
Meet & greet at the international airport and ground transfer to the hotel near the airport.
Day 02 Transfer to Sarapiqui Area (B- L-D) After breakfast, you will be heading to Sarapiqui area. On the way, you will encounter coffee farms plantations, strawberry producers and at the skirts of the famous Poas Volcano with great panoramic views, rivers, and waterfalls. Arrive at our destination, Sarapiqui. This area is a perfect site for adventurers who love outdoors activities nestled on a deep rain forest. Check in at the hotel near the area with easy access to the wonders of the rainforest. For over 30 years, the area has been a heaven for nature enthusiasts from around the world. In the evening you will take the Night hike tour with Selva Verde’s naturalist guides for an exciting exploration of the rainforest at night! Bring your flashlight and search the grounds and surrounding trails for nocturnal wildlife – including tree frogs, leaf mimicking insects, and nocturnal mammals including kinkajous and bats! Dinner at the hotel.
Day 03 Sarapiqui area- (B-L-D) After breakfast, get ready for paddling at Rio Sarapiqui. This half-day rafting adventure is perfect for people of all ages and abilities. The Sarapiqui River has class II and III rapids, which are fun and engaging but not dangerous. Back to the hotel. Overnight at the hotel in the area.
Day 04 Transfer to Tortuguero (B-L- D) Breakfast at the hotel. Ready for a real natural exploration at Tortuguero National Park and Canals, this place is reachable only by boat (or plane). You will be dropped off at the dock right at La Pavona boat launch, a boat ride for about one hour and a half approximately, surrounded by frogs, Toucans, Macaws, white-faced and spider monkeys. Arrival to the hotel in the area of Tortuguero area. Enjoy lunch at the pool restaurant. In the afternoon you can visit the Village of Tortuguero. Learn the ways of life of the local residents of Tortuguero. Dinner at the hotel restaurant.
Day 05 Tortuguero ( B-L-D) Have a relaxing and delicious breakfast, then depending on the season you can choose from a boat tour through the canals spotting wildlife or hiking in a deep forest. There are lots of different things to see which include Herons, Egrets, Monkeys, Kingfishers, Caimans, and many other species. You can also enjoy the Turtle Nesting Night Tour (optional tour $30 p/p). Observing nesting sea turtles is an experience you'll never forget! (in season from July - September).
Day 06 Transfer to Puerto Viejo Beach (B) After breakfast return to La Pavona dock. You will be heading to Puerto Viejo ( Old Harbor). Stop for lunch on the way in Siquirres. Check in at the hotel in the area and have all the comfort expected in order to have a restful night after a long journey. Free afternoon to relax, enjoy the hotel facilities and the beach.
Day 07 Puerto Viejo Beach (B) Sun and beach day. After lots of fun, nature, and activities you can relax, sleepover, have breakfast at your pace and enjoy a leisure day at the beach. Walk to the colorful and picturesque town, feel the laid-back culture of the locals, choose one of the several restaurants with the exotic Caribbean dishes, get a "fría" (as we called to a beer and enjoy the last night in a dreamy Caribbean environment.
Day 08 Transfer to Alajuela (B) Overnight at Hotel near the airport for your departure the next day.
Day 09 Transfer to the airport for your flight back to your country (B) Back soon! Pura Vida!
IMPORTANT NOTES:
Remember! This is the rainforest, so please have your raincoat handy (in case you don’t have one, there are raincoats available for sale at the souvenir shop) and we recommend you wear fast-drying clothes and shoes.
The order and logistics of the itinerary may change depending on weather conditions. -Luggage is limited to 25 pounds per person on the Tortuguero trip. Entrance fee to Tortuguero National Park is not included in the package: USD $10.00 per person
